Lucky Class!

Independent Reading Time

Two teachers (in Hoover City Schools) were chosen to participate in a 3-year study to pilot the Barnes and Noble Nook for their class.  One at Gwin and one at Green Valley - Mrs. Darroch's class!!! The research will be conducted by the University of Alabama.

Chillin' with a good book

One Nook is assigned to each student for the school year.  This e-reader is not just for reading books!  You can use it for Math, Writing, Social Studies and Science.  There are education apps on the Nook and it also has built-in Wi-Fi.

We are so fortunate to be a part of a system that values 21st Century teaching and learning.
Are we lucky, or what?

Look What We Found!

Mrs. Prutzman's class found a lizard in their light fixture! The
class researched and found out it was a Green Anole.  They
wanted to keep him as a class pet, but phone conferenced
with Dr. Dobbins, biologist at Samford University, and
decided to release him to his natural home.
